Assisting in Office Work
The Administrative Support Team is always looking for helping hands to volunteer in the temple office. Sometimes, there is a mailing to prepare or a bulletin to produce. Other times, the staff can utilize assistance with answering phones and doors, or if you have a particular skill like proof-reading, we have plenty for you to proof!
Brotherhood is a service auxiliary, including men from 21-101! There are many services and activities including bowling, golf, Happy Hours, Baseball Night, and a fabulous Chanukah Lunch/Raffle. This group also helps build the Sukkah, provides gifts to Bar/Bat students, ushers for High Holy Day services, serves meals at the Women’s Seder, and lots of interfaith work. There’s something for everyone!
Caring & Bereavement
Our Caring Committee is comprised of volunteers of all ages. We deliver gifts during holidays to those who are homebound and to families of members recently deceased during their time of mourning, as well as to Temple families with new babies.
Communications / Publicity
This committee is invaluable in strategic planning and generating Temple leadership messages to keep the congregation up-to-date. We also welcome contributors to our new Temple blog.
Community & Social Action
There are numerous opportunities for our Temple family to engage in mitzvot and social action projects throughout the year, thanks to our dedicated Tikkun Olam Committee.
Fundraising and other social events
Every year, our Temple orchestrates amazing events – and is always looking for volunteers to help plan and create a fun evening for our congregation to socialize. There are always abundant committee options from baking to decorations, gathering auction items and enlisting entertainment. Just let us know, and we’ll find the right spot for you!
Onegs & Holiday Celebrations
Several times a year at our annual Break-the-Fast and Brotherhood Chanukah Lunch, and at other special receptions, our congregation enjoys wonderful home-baked creations put together or served up by our own members. We’d love your help if cooking is your passion or pleasure!
Our Sisterhood auxiliary is also active in all aspects of Temple life — providing funds for our youth programs and congregational onegs, hosting programs that provide opportunities for socializing, study and meeting new people, and outreach to our college students. We can’t do all these wonderful things without your participation.
Help our team build our social presence through photos, event promotion, and general interaction on our Facebook and Instagram page.
Work with a team to make sure we have the best technological resources for our Temple staff and congregation.
Our Temple Circles initiative encourages our temple family to form groups that have shared interests and passions in order to SEEK, ENGAGE, and TRANSFORM caring and supportive relationships among themselves, with the Temple Emanu-El community, and with Judaism.
Welcoming New Members
Welcoming the newcomer is something we pride ourselves here at Temple Emanu-El. No one should be a stranger here, and we would love help in planning events and serving as an “ambassador” to connect with our newest congregants.
Worship & Prayer
One of the gifts of being a Temple Emanu-El member is the gift of Shabbat. We offer the opportunity to assist our clergy lead Shabbat services in several ways – from chanting Torah to singing, you can be a part of this spiritual moment. Plus, you could serve as a Shabbat greeter to warmly welcome those joining us in worship. We also offer have two amazing Torah Study groups that meet weekly on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
Youth Education & Activities
Religious School volunteers help put together and set up classrooms for classes, organize holiday events such as Chanukah and Purim, and shop for items needed either weekly or monthly. And, if you’re interested in teaching – we would love more help with our Religious School classes as well as with teaching or tutoring Hebrew. We also will have plenty to do if you’d like to help us build our NFTY/teen programming.
