t is very important to our family that Temple Emanu-El maintains its place as one of the pillars of Birmingham’s Jewish community in the years to come. When we consider the dwindling Jewish communities in small towns, like Jasper, AL, where David’s family is from, we knew we wanted to do our part to ensure the long-term success of our community. Our hope is for this congregation in Birmingham to stay strong for many years to come, enabling our young girls, and the generations that follow, to grow up in a community that is welcoming, embraces differences and maintains the strong tradition in which they believe.
With this in mind, in addition to our annual support, we have included Temple Emanu-El in our estate plans. We have a strong family tradition of supporting the community, and while we realize that our plans will change from time to time, we wanted our spiritual home included from the get-go. Actually, there is no better time to plan than when you’re young. It’s also our way of doing our part of passing the treasures of our traditions onto the next generation. As stated on the plaque inside of Hess Chapel, “l’dor v’dor…from generation to generation”.
