Our clergy and leadership want to open our Temple back up as soon as possible, but it is essential that when we open that it be done safely and responsibly. As of today’s numbers, UAB has its highest number of cases reported in a single day, with 1000 people testing positive for the virus on June 15. Throughout the entire state of Alabama, there remains a concerning growth in cases despite a slight downward trend in mortality. We are hopeful to open the building for modified worship experiences by mid to late July. Our Reopening Task Force continues to give us weekly updates and best practices for our congregation. Please know that Temple Emanu-El is open; we recommend small groups, physical distancing, and masks when meeting in the synagogue.
