Dear Rabbi Miller,
Thank you for your guidance, comfort, religious leadership and friendship throughout the years. You played a significant role in our decision to move to Birmingham, advising us on our first phone conversation with you. Two months after moving here, you comforted us during a difficult late miscarriage. You were also there for happy times- naming ceremony, bat mitzvahs and confirmation of our children. We became travel buddies with you on several trips, making them extra special for us. Some special memories that we’ll never forget include:
* the rendition of “Happy Birthday” by the clergy during Emily’s bat mitzvah on her 13th birthday and Sukkot
* the memorial service in the snow at Auschwitz on the 2010 Confirmation Trip
* the sunrise camel ride in the Sahara Desert on our journey to Spain and Morocco with you
* the Friday night service on the temple steps in Jerusalem and the National Holocaust Memorial Service on our 2012 Friendship Journey to Israel with you
We especially understand your desire to retire and be closer to your family. You recently told us that people now ask you what you do all day. Just tell them in your best southern accent, “Y’all, I get to give sugar and love-on my grand babies!” We will miss you and Judi. We wish you the very best always!
