Where do I begin?! As our rabbi, mentor, ambassador, colleague and friend, you have been amazing. Through your leadership and vision, we have done incredible things during your tenure — much more than one would expect of a congregation and community our size. You have been an invaluable partner in building our Temple’s Endowment, and have also made us so very proud as a revered advocate for both our Jewish people and for interfaith relations.
On a personal level, 25 years ago when we moved to Birmingham as newlyweds, there was a “buzz” about the wonderful things you were introducing to the community — so it was quite natural for us to select Emanu-El as our spiritual home. Since then, you have been there for us during our joys and our challenges, as well to help us cope with our losses. We will always cherish your warmth at our baby namings, bat mizvahs and meaningful memories of traveling with you to Prague, The special ways that you engaged us in your ReJewvenation classes and led us in worship will also stay with us. And, we’ll always reminisce fondly of thrown sippy cups, endless airport layovers, and the incredible march of our Torah scrolls down Highland Avenue.
Rabbi, you have indeed been a blessing for us — and we wish you and Judi all joy and happiness as you begin your next chapter surrounded by your family and precious grandchildren in D.C.
